LINOCUT PRINTS

My linocut prints place Black women at the center of histories carried through nature. They are my muse and my anchor, bearing narratives that are only beginning to find space within contemporary printmaking. Plants, animals, and heirlooms become living symbols: cotton recalls the intertwined histories of enslavement, reproductive labor, and the herbal knowledge of Black women; horses embody power and the passage of time; strands of beads honor generations of Black women and girls; and the barred owl evokes Harriet Tubman’s whispered path to freedom through its watchful call. Inspired by Félix Vallotton, Elizabeth Catlett, Albrecht Dürer, and Käthe Kollwitz, my prints extend my painting practice, carving bold yet delicate images that transform memory, resilience, and Black womanhood into enduring visual narratives.
